EMPOWER Colorado, with the support of BHI, will host a Sibshop, an exciting program just for brothers and sisters of kids with special needs. Since EMPOWER Colorado focuses on families who have children with mental/emotional/behavioral disabilities (ADHD, Bipolar disorder, Anxiety disorder, Autism, Asperger’s, just to name a few), we will focus on children who have siblings with such disabilities. At a Sibshop, brothers and sisters will
- Meet other brothers and sisters of children with mental/emotional/behavioral disabilities
- Have fun
- Talk with others who “get it” about the good (and sometimes not so good) parts of having a sibling with special needs
- Learn more about disabilities and the services that people with disabilities receive
- Have some more fun!
Who are Sibshops for? Sibshops are for 8-13 year old brothers and sisters of children who have special needs.
Who sponsors this Sibshop? EMPOWER Colorado, a statewide service of CP Colorado and BHI (Behavioral Health, Inc.).
Who runs the Sibshop? I will be facilitating this workshop, along with some great volunteers. Some of us are siblings who understand the personal impact of being a sibling to someone with special needs.
When and where is the Sibshop held? We will be hosting our first Sibshop on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Rainbow Center, 2140 E. 88th Ave., Thornton, CO 80229.
What is the cost of the Sibshop? We are happy to announce there is no fee for our inaugural Sibshop.
Sounds great! How do I register? For more information and to register, call KimNichelle Rivera at EMPOWER Colorado at 303-226-5535 or email at email@example.com. But hurry—space is limited!
