LEAD RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR

GENERAL PURPOSE:   This position provides direct care and Primary Counselor Duties and has responsibility for monitoring the service, support, and general operation of a PCA site under the direction of the Program Area Manager and Program Area Coordinator. In addition, the position provides support by providing direction, supervision, evaluation and training to Innovations staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
--Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
•General knowledge of the developmental disabilities system in Colorado
•Solid knowledge of the operation of the house
•Basic knowledge of the statutes and regulations of the Health Department governing the operations of the house
•Basic knowledge of common computer word processing software
•Ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups at all professional levels
•Skill in working with developmentally disabled adults in a residential setting
•Skill in setting work priorities for self and others
•Ability and willingness to satisfactorily complete required training
•Valid drivers license
•Ability to lift 50 pounds

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
--Experience:
•High School degree required, four-year degree preferred
•One-year experience employed with Innovations preferred

HOURS PER WEEK:  20-40
