RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR

GENERAL PURPOSE:   The purpose of the residential counselor position is to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the consumers with disabilities in their homes and in the community, and to implement the consumer’s Individual Plan. Duties include administration of medication, attending to personal needs, implementing Individual Service and Support Plans, completing necessary documentation, maintaining the cleanliness of the house and planning and conducting community activities for the consumer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•Attends all required meetings including staff meetings.
•Deal effectively with crisis situations.
•Integrates consumers into the community through outings as stated in consumer Individual Plans.
•Implements, monitors, and reports on consumers' Individual Service and Support Plans as stated in their Individual Plan.
•Completes all necessary training within guidelines set by company, department and Program Manager.
•Provide transportation as required using company vehicles.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
•Ability to perform basic computer skills such as word processing.
• Good written and spoken language skills.
•Ability to maintain detailed records and reports Possess a valid Colorado driver's license and ability to meet DDC driver record requirements.
•Willing to work as a team player.
•Ability to work in a flexible and constantly changing work environment, and deal effectively with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
•Demonstrated skill in working with adults with developmental disability.
•Ability and willingness to safely lift 50- 75 lbs.
•Willingness and ability to respond to emergency situations at the house as they arise.
•Ability to drive a large van with wheelchair lift.
•Ability to lift and transfer adult consumers safely.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•High School diploma or equivalent
•2 years of college or 2 years of experience preferred
•Experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software helpful

HOURS PER WEEK:  20-40
PAY RANGE:  $10.50 -$12.00/hour depending on experience
