Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference
Key Transitions for Individuals with ASD
October 6, 2017
8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO
Featured Speaker: Tamara Dawkins, PhD and Glenna Osborne, MEd, University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Program
The incidence of autism has steadily increased over the last 20 years. Youth diagnosed today contribute to the increasingly large adult population, overwhelming our current transition and vocational rehabilitation programs. Recent data from a study conducted at the UNC TEACCH Autism program indicated that many adults continue to require services across a wide array of areas. However, caregivers report a lack of resources to meet these vast areas of need. Families and professionals can help to maximize outcomes and quality of life for individuals with autism by adopting a pro-active approach to transition planning. During this interactive day of learning, participants will hear the latest research along with strategies that foster positive adult outcomes. Emphasis on key transition times along the lifespan will be discussed to highlight the important and unique aspects of transition for individuals with autism and their families.
Registration includes boxed sandwich lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
