“Raise the Roof Roast” for Front Range Hippotherapy
Front Range Hippotherapy is a non-profit organization designed to pair horses to human partners in an effort to elicit change and enable our clients to maximize their target goals. We have been in business since June 2006 and offer a new and exciting way to utilize horses for healing. Unlike many other well-established therapeutic riding centers, we don’t emphasize teaching the sport of riding. Rather, several skilled therapists team up to provide the best Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy to our clients while astride. We use qualified horse-handlers to ensure the horse’s movement is exactly what we’re looking for to elicit a desired response in our clients, and train our volunteers to excel in side-walking, thereby ensuring the client’s safety and well-being.
At Front Range Hippotherapy, we actively help clients achieve their goals. Each day, we see clients of all ages and abilities astride their horse, stretching their limits-- physical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive, while their parents and caregivers hold their breaths…all hoping that Hippotherapy treatment will help to bridge the gapfor their child; taking first steps, breathing first words or eliciting that first smile from a child which says: “yes, I can”. The Front Range Hippotherapy team of staff and volunteers gets to witness these occurrences on a daily basis.
However, FRH is lacking in one very significant way-- we do not have an indoor arena. This has caused us financial difficulty, due to frequent and unpredictable weather-related cancellations. It also puts the clients at risk for prolonged exposure to sun, wind and precipitation. We are striving to make our treatment year-round and assist clients who could otherwise not participate due to harsh weather or who are often immuno-compromised. An all-weather arena would allow for clients to receive this invaluable treatment protected from the elements and would enable our corporation to continue to grow and help many more people for years to come.
We are holding a fundraiser called “Raise the Roof Roast”, on Saturday, October 2nd, from 4:00- 10:00 pm, being held at Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR). Our goal is to raise enough money to erect an all-weather arena, enabling us to treat our clients year-round. Our plan for the evening is to congregate at CHR, have an amazing pig roast, dance to the tunes of “Moonshiner”, learn more about the program while also offering silent and live auctions, pony & hay rides, photo opportunities, a scholarship ‘giving-tree’ and much, much more. We hope to have 200 participants, and raise upwards of $25K but we can’t do this alone!
